Throughout Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire, Kristian leads school pupils of all ages in percussion workshops. The main instrument is the djembe drum, which offers a great range of tones of voice and with a little practice, allows the schoolkids to make some great sounds, drawing them in and fascinating them with its rich vocabulary.
More than just teaching the mechanics of percussion though, Kristian focuses on the most important African rhythms, giving insights to the cultural and spiritual background of the music. There is a long and interesting history to the djembe, which Kristian weaves into his workshops to add another fascinating dimension to the experience.
Much of the music that is used in the workshops, not only for schools, but also for many other groups of all ages, is included in his album "The African Experience", which is available through his online shop.
